Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique slices work into 25-minute focus blocks with 5-minute breaks to boost concentration and efficiency.
Can I customize the timer length?
Yes. Use the settings panel to set focus sessions between 5–120 minutes and breaks between 1–60 minutes so the rhythm matches your work style.
Is the app free?
Yes. Pomodoro Timer is free to use with no ads or paywalls.
Which languages are supported?
We currently support Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, French, German, and Japanese. Let us know if you need another language.
Will my data sync to a server?
No. Your themes, backgrounds, durations, and daily tomatoes live entirely in local storage, keeping your workflow private.
Can I use it on mobile?
Yes. The interface is optimized for phones—just open it in your browser and get started.
Does the timer work offline?
Yes. Everything runs in your browser. Once the page loads, you can go offline and keep tracking your focus sessions.
Can I change the background and theme?
Absolutely. Click the palette button (bottom-left) to choose from Midnight, Sunset, Aurora, Forest, Dawn, Nebula, and Ocean backgrounds, plus light and dark themes.
How do I use the task list?
The task list sits at the bottom of the timer. Add tasks, mark one as active to link your current pomodoro, and check them off as you go. The timer credits each finished tomato to the active task.
What is a long break?
A long break (default 15 minutes) kicks in after every 4 pomodoros to give you a deeper rest. You can adjust the interval and duration in settings.
What sounds are available?
The speaker button (bottom-right) gives you rain, ocean waves, wind, brainwave entrainment (theta/alpha), and classic noise (white/pink/brown). All sounds are generated in real-time—no downloads needed.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Yes. Space to start/pause, R to reset, S to skip the current break, and F for fullscreen. Shortcuts work when the timer is in focus.
How do I see my progress?
Visit the Stats page from the top navigation. It shows your daily tomato count, focus minutes, streak days, total history, and a 7-day chart.
